Date Posted: 09/20/2023 Closing Date: 11/09/2023, 11:59PM ET Req ID: 32586 Job Category: Faculty - Teaching Stream (continuing) Faculty/Division: Faculty of Arts & Science Department: Dept of Chemistry Campus: St. George (Downtown Toronto) Description: The Department of Chemistry in the Faculty of Arts & Science at the University of Toronto invites applications for a full-time teaching stream position in the areas of Introductory and Physical Chemistry at the rank of Assistant Professor, Teaching Stream, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2024, or shortly thereafter. Applicants must have earned a Ph D degree in Chemistry by the time of appointment, or shortly thereafter, with a demonstrated record of excellence in teaching. We seek candidates whose teaching interests complement and enhance our existing departmental strengths (see: www. chemistry. utoronto. ca ). We encourage applicants to review our research and teaching activities prior to applying. Applicant exper ti se and teaching-related scholarly interests may include, but are not limited to, Physical Chemistry or Chemical Physics. Experience with scientific computing in the context of chemistry would be an asset. The successful candidate will join a dynamic community engaged in chemistry pedagogic scholarship within a research-intensive university environment. Candidates must have teaching experience in a degree gran ti ng program at the undergraduate level. This experience may include laboratory prepara ti on/delivery, curriculum development, mentorship of undergraduate students, and par ti cipatory experience in outreach ac ti vi ti es. A demonstrated keen interest in developing novel approaches to engaging undergraduates of all academic backgrounds is required. Addi ti onally, candidates must possess a demonstrated commitment to excellent pedagogical prac ti ces and inquiry and demonstrated interest in teaching-related scholarly activities.
