Open Rank Clinician Educator of Family and Community Medicine - Family Medicine Residency Program Director The Department of Family and Community Medicine seeks a family medicine physician for a faculty position at the University of New Mexico with an interest in directing the UNM Family Medicine Residency Program, at a top-rated training program in the country. The Program Director is responsible for the overall organization, curriculum, recruitment, and ongoing holistic success of the residency program within an innovative department committed to underserved populations. The overall mandate of the Program Director is to ensure that residents receive the best possible training, and that the standards of the relevant accrediting college and regulatory bodies (e.g. Accrediting Council of Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) and its oversight committee, the Residency Review Committee (RRC) are maintained. Innovation and creative solutions in GME, particularly when associated with education research and community-based learning are encouraged. The Residency Program Director will work together with the residents, the leadership team (comprised of the Associate Program Directors, Program Manager and staff) as well as the continuity clinic's medical & education directors in achieving the goals and objectives of the program.The Program Director will ensure that the curriculum provided in the program is relevant and adheres to the American Board of Family Medicine (ABFM) and ACGME guidelines. The Program Director provides assistance and direction to other faculty members who hold residency administrative duties (such as site directors, academic coordinators, etc.) and reports to the Department Chair and/or Senior Associate Dean for GME when appropriate. With the assistance of faculty and the residency program committee, the Program Director is required to have an ongoing awareness of resident performance. The Program Director acts as resource and a liaison between the residents and faculty, other departments within the UNM Health Sciences Center, health authorities, accrediting colleges, and licensing bodies frequently in the role of resident advocate.The Department of Family and Community Medicine (DFCM) at the University of New Mexico operates under the mission to improve the health and well-being of the unique populations of New Mexico and beyond by centering diversity and equity, providing excellent patient-centered care and advancing community-engaged, inclusive, and responsive education and research. Family Medicine faculty provide care on the Maternal Child Health service (a Family Medicine obstetric service), the Family Medicine Inpatient Service which provides care to adult and pediatric patients, Newborn Nursery and the Intermediate Care nursery. In this position, new faculty will provide service and supervise residents on one or two of these teaching services as part of their job duties. Innovative Education We are nationally and internationally known for educational innovation. Areas of departmental educational expertise include social determinants of health, community health and engagement, culturally effective care, addiction medicine and point of care ultrasound. Our faculty are major contributors to the education of medical students and PA students at UNM and our residency program provides opportunities for rotations in both rural and underserved settings as well as UNM rotations. * We have several Fellowships within our department including Maternal Child Health, Sports Medicine and Addiction Medicine.
