We are currently looking for a Plumbing Journeyman with Excavation Experience SUMMARY The Pre-Construction Layout Technician I assist in creating detailed 2D VDC drawings utilizing computer aided design software (CAD). The Pre-Construction VDC Technician I will be heavily involved with creating shop and spool drawings using company templates and following Comfort Systems standards. They will produce clean, organized and well-defined documentation that will be issued to field crew, our factory and our clients.The following includes, but are not limited to, the essential duties and responsibilities of this position. (Other duties may be assigned). Head responsibility for accuracy of work performed and proactive approach to ensure work quality Review project documents and drawings of layout Understand the objections of the site survey and provides horizontal and vertical control using Total Stations Participate in basic layout and field engineering activities. These activities would include: Establish control lines from control points Establish elevation control points Layout required embeds block-outs and other items required by contract Assist in the performance of a variety of activities as it relates to scanning and layout of MEP Provide clerical support and documentation of layout activities Maintain proper usage and storage of all surveying equipment Contribute to the team effort by accomplishing related assignments as needed Working during inclement weather, could be exposed to extreme cold and heat, noise and dust from construction operations depending upon project site Convey project status and ideas professionally Present necessary documents for results, activities and assignments Perform as technical coach for customers and peers as required Conduct layout dimensional inspections and review layout design and resolve undefined details Utilize notes, sketches, drawings, engineering specification and verbal instructions Comply with established company procedures, standards and instructions while performing various layout technical activities Utilize Computer Aided Design (CAD) along with automated and manual tools for drawings and parts lists QUALIFICATIONS: To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required. Entry level experience in AutoCAD, Navisworks or other VDC software Proficient in Microsoft products Minimum of one year of experience in field engineering/lay-out Good communication skills - written, verbal, interpersonal Extensive travel up to 70% Proficient at reading and understanding contract drawing with the ability to cross check between multiple documents as needed Ability to meet deadlines and multi-task in fast paced environment Possess knowledge of construction field engineering from pre-construction to completion, preferred. EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE: One or more years of field experience utilizing Total Station and Scanners, or related experience. Excellent oral and written communication skills. Exceptional organizational skills with ability to effectively prioritize multiple tasks. Capable of grasping and retaining basic mechanical, and/or plumbing design principles and working independently. Desire to work in a fast-paced team environment to complete tasks accurately and efficiently. LANGUAGE SKILLS: Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Have the ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public. Must be able to read and evaluate project construction documents, plans and specifications. MATHEMATICAL SKILLS: Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference, and volume. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry. COMPUTER/SOFTWARE SKILLS: Ability to use MS Office Excel and Word. Experience with Navisworks, Bluebeam, and Autodesk software including Revit Fabrication is desirable. We also offer- PAID holidays & PAID Vacation Generous Benefits including 401k match.
