Overview Kimley-Horn's Phoenix office is seeking a Power Studies Engineer with 4+years experienceto join their Electrical team.With a focus on serving clients within the renewable energy sector, the Power Studies Engineer will act as a technical expert in thedesign, analysis,and optimization of electrical power systems. This is not a remote position. Responsibilities Overseeingcomplex projects frominceptionto completion,with a focus onpower quality, reliability, and system efficiency Support the power electrical teamtoanalyze systems, create models, andwritereports for utility and distributed scale solar projects. Assistwith project design, specifications, and planssupport Review workwith quality in mindtoconfirmcompliance with EVS qualitystandards ConductArc Flash, Short Circuit, and Coordination studies using ETAP or SKM Provide analysis for wire in trenches using software likeAmpCalcor CYMCAP Perform grounding studies using CDEGS or SKM Ground Mat PSSE, PSCAD, or PSLF modeling ConductHarmonic and transientstudies Assistin relay settings forrenewableprojects Partner withthe electrical team to createcalculations andfull set medium voltage electrical drawings for utility and distributed scale solarprojects Support electrical medium voltage conductor sizing and design, along with electrical collection system and substation one-linediagrams Continually gainknowledgeofPV system components like modules, racking, inverters, transformers, and balance of systems Qualifications 4+ years' experience as an Electrical Engineer for an engineering firm or EPC 1+ years' project management experience EIT certification or path to move towards certification ispreferred CYMCAP,AmpCalc, SKM, ETAP, EMTP-RV, PSSE, PSCAD, or CDEGSexperiencepreferred Understandingor willing to learn, the NEC 2020 and IEEE standards and keep up with emergingtechnologies General understanding of engineering and renewable energy systems Grounding studies basic theory andmethodology Coordination, Short Circuit, and Arc Flash studies basic theory andmethodology Proficiencyusing Computer-Aided Design and Drafting (AutoCAD) Proficient with Microsoft Office Ability to work and manage several project teamsconcurrently The ability to work independently or in a team environmenteffectively The ability to work in a fast-paced, challengingenvironment Why Kimley-Horn?
