Responsibilities Participate in project planning, recording, and evaluation of data. Conduct independent scholarly research, developing new methods and protocols under the guidance of a mentor (principal investigator). Acquire technical, lab management, and grant writing skills. Participate in seminars, lectures, poster sessions, national presentations, and professional workshops. Supervise junior lab members. Assist with other research projects as needed. Education Qualifications Doctorate ( required ) About the laboratory A postdoctoral fellow position is available in the Oldridge Laboratory in the Center for Computational and Genomic Medicine at the Children's Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) and University of Pennsylvania (UPenn).The Oldridge Laboratory investigates interactions between tumor and immune cells, with the goal of understanding how immune cells can be targeted therapeutically to treat challenging cancers. We predominantly study intact tissues, combining cutting-edge spatialomic experimental techniques with advanced computational, statistical, and AI-driven analysis methods. A successful applicant will join a collaborative, engaging and vibrant team of technicians, students, and scientists. Our laboratory spans both wet and dry labs, with some members specializing in experimental, wet bench work and other members focusing on dry bench computational analysis. Applicants for this position must have a Doctoral degree with experience in computational biology (relevant experience might include multiomics, machine learning, and/or biomedical image analysis) and coding skills in Python and R programming languages. Skills in molecular biology, cell biology, histology or imaging and a scientific background in cancer biology or immunology would be advantageous but is not required. Strong candidates for this position will be eager to join a young and growing lab and excited to engage with new technologies and methodologies. They will have excellent communication and organizational skills. They will recognize the importance of mentorship and have a desire to help support the next generation of trainees in the laboratory. The successful applicant will conduct independent analysis of spatial biology datasets, working closely with other members of the Oldridge Lab and collaborators to generate and test hypotheses. Postdoctoral fellows are expected to supervise and mentor junior lab members and contribute to the overall research goals of the group. The successful applicant will be expected to communicate their research to the scientific community by participating in seminars and conferences.
