ABOUT THE ROLEThe Senior Accountant will be responsible for a range of general accounting tasks for US and Canadian operations. The Senior Accountant will also support the Assistant Controller with the monthly financial close, monthly reconciliations and assist in the production of monthly financial statements and supporting schedules.--RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain the general ledger and accounting records, including the preparation and entry of journal entries.Contact person for corporate credit card questions.Complete Canadian monthly close entries.Review Canadian P&L and complete flux analysis.Prepare and import corporate credit card journal entries into Great PlainsMaintain Visual Lease records and complete monthly journal entries and reconciliation.Weekly flash report for Concur expense reports.Assist with the monthly close process, including preparation of assigned monthly close entries, research expense account fluctuations, and expense analysis.Assist and provide backup to Accounts Payable teamComplete and file HST/GST reporting and returns.Support management with special projects.Support budget and forecasting activities.Review and approve Staff Accountant's journal entries.Provide professional interaction and response to all levels of employees and vendorsAssist with providing supporting documentation for the annual financial statement auditPerform other general duties and/or special projects as needed--SKILLS/QUALIFICATIONSExcellent communication skills, both verbal and written.--Strong analytical, and organization skills.--Ability to research and analyze data in order to provide recommendations.--Maintain a high level of professionalism and ability to maintain integrity and confidentiality.--College degree in finance/accounting or other business-related field required.Minimum of five years of general ledger accounting experience.Supervisory experience preferred.Knowledge of accounting principles and practices.--Experience with automated accounting systems, Concur and Great Plains preferred.--Proficiency in Microsoft Word & Outlook.Intermediate to advanced knowledge of Microsoft Excel.PLEASE NOTE:--Acxion Foodservice Inc.--reserves the right to change, modify or add to the duties and essential functions at any time.
