Summary This position is located in the Department of Health and Human Services, Office of the Assistant Secretary for Health, Office of Research Integrity (ORI), located in Rockville, Maryland.Merit Promotion Announcement VIN 12345654 Duties Performs scientific and administrative reviews and analyses of allegations of research misconduct. Develops and evaluates key strategies, procedures, and guidelines for investigating and analyzing allegations of misconduct in public health scientific research. Manages all activities related to cases of alleged research misconduct in basic and clinical research studies. Establishes and maintains effective collaborative and working relationships with other government agencies and academic and other research institutions and organizations to ensure proper reporting of research misconduct allegations. Requirements Conditions of Employment U.S. Citizenship required Registered or exempt from Selective Service (www.sss.gov) If not previously completed, a background security investigation will be required for all appointees. Appointment will be subject to the applicant's successful completion of a background security investigation and favorable adjudication. Basic Requirement : You must possess a bachelor's degree or graduate/higher level degree with a major study in an academic field related to the medical field, health sciences or allied sciences appropriate to the work of the position. (Must provide transcripts) Specialized Experience: GS-14 : You must possess at least one year of specialized experience equivalent in difficulty and responsibility to the GS-13 level in the Federal service (obtained in either the public or private sectors) performing (4) of the (5) duties listed below: Investigating and/or reviewing activities related to allegations of misconduct in scientific research, with emphasis in biomedical and/or clinical research. Monitoring compliance with guidelines for conducting medical and scientific research. Developing and maintaining procedures and processes for obtaining, evaluating, and documenting evidence. Providing guidance and/or technical assistance to institutional officials, federal agencies, representatives of professional and academic organizations, and/or the public on organization policies on research misconduct Evaluating evidence to support findings of research misconduct and recommending administrative actions against respondents such as supervision or debarment.
