Job purpose The CAD Team Lead is responsible for seeking to continually improve the functionality and efficiency of the CAD Team and delivering on growth-oriented initiatives. The Team Lead will be accomplished by actively engaging in the activities of the team, supporting areas of operations and helping to establish and implement programs in the areas of product design and development, process engineering and manufacturing engineering. This position will process work orders through nesting for the laser and brake press. This position ensures the correct material is being used and accurately draws work in a variety of programming. This position includes working with 2D and 3D plans and frequently involves in the modification of digital designs to ensure accuracy and quality. Duties and responsibilities Lead the FMI CAD Team and interface with others to effectively lead and grow the technical capabilities of the Team so that it can function as a standalone business unit. Work with key personnel to manage and refine processes specific to New Product Development and Product modifications from concept to final approval including all necessary co-ordination with internal and external personnel. Serve as a mentor to personnel on the Technical Team and others as determined. Processing customer drawing requirements as quickly and accurately as possible Completing CAD functions such as drawing modifying and nesting in a timely manner Liaising with customers when required to ensure drawings are correct and suitable to manufacture. Ensuring the nesting is optimum with the least amount of waste. Work with cross-functional teams to reduce costs and improve services. Support training and development of fellow employees in pursuit of expanding knowledge. s upport business needs in current position and other departments as needed. Qualifications Previous experience using 2D and 3D CAD software (e.g., AutoCAD, DraftSight, SolidWorks, Inventor) Previous experience with 2D nesting software preferably Trumpf TruTops Boost, however training can be provided for the right candidate. Ability to convert 2D and 3D models to different formats. Knowledge and/or experience in the sheet metal industry, specializing in laser cutting and brake press. Fabrication knowledge is desirable, but not essential. Possess strong numerical skills. Ability to communicate with multiple departments to ensure delivery and project dates are kept. Self-motivated, detail-oriented individual Excellent interpersonal, verbal & written communication skills Ability to work under pressure with tight deadlines. Proactive, hands-on approach and attitude Willingness to learn, improve, and adapt. Attention to detail, time management skills, and a positive attitude. High School diploma/GED preferred. Willingness to undergo a background check and/or drug test. Working conditions Moderate noise (i.e., business office with computers, phone, and printers, light traffic). Ability to work in a confined area. Ability to sit at a computer terminal for an extended period. Ability to work independently or in a group. Physical requirements While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to, stand, sit; talk, hear, and use hands and fingers to operate a computer. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision requirements due to computer work. Light to moderate lifting is required. Regular, predictable attendance is required; including quarter-driven hours as business demands dictate. Additional Information Pay starting at $24.00 per hour.
