Job Objectives: Responsible for underwriting of a complex book of business, employing the methods necessary to meet projected profitability, GWP, and expense goals, roll out of the product, management and growth of the overall portfolio of business in Canada, maintaining prescribed underwriting discipline/guidelines, marketing and servicing of existing and potential clients. Duties and Responsibilities: · Underwrite, quote and process the CGL business associated with existing First Nations business · Execute the business plan for the development, management and expansion of a portfolio of Excess Casualty insurance book in Canada. · Prioritize and evaluate submissions in order to identify those accounts that provide the greatest opportunity for profit consistent with the business plan and corporate profit objectives. · Conduct pre-quote and mid-term underwriting audits as needed. · Evaluate and respond to special acceptance requests in a timely manner. · On a regular basis review the development of the submission flow and portfolio of business against original plan/projections. · Set appropriate terms and conditions following the Company business strategy and underwriting guidelines to quote selected risks. · Review underwriting submissions, price and analyze coverage, structure and exposures. · Prioritize and evaluate submissions in order to identify those accounts that provide the greatest opportunity for profit consistent with the business plan and corporate profit objectives. · Continually monitor the portfolio to ensure exposures meet the underwriting guidelines of the Casualty Lines division and with an aim of improving pricing methods and consistency. · Authorize quotes/binders/invoices as appropriate. · Introduce Allied World products into Canada by developing new and utilizing existing relationships. · Attend client/broker meetings, lunches, dinners and other social outings as applicable, including industry conferences and seminars...
