Amalgamated Mining Equipment attracts and hires highly skilled individuals. We are seeking experienced fulltime permanent employee or contractor Journeyman Welder with Underground Mining Equipment Experience to join our dynamic team and grow with us in our Edmonton, AB Shop location. We have been in business for over 30 years and still going strong. Reporting to the Mechanical Supervisors, the Journeyman Welder will work with the Maintenance team and be responsible for providing Welding support and expertise to our equipment operations. This position requires a thorough knowledge of heavy mining equipment and the motivation to work in a challenging environment with minimal supervision. Using technical and practical knowledge this position will follow instruction, utilize shop and assembly manuals, and adhere to the health and safety standards as established by Amalgamated Group of Companies. Responsibilities: Inspecting, troubleshooting, fabricating, assembling/installing, and repairing mobile & heavy equipment. Manual welding, flame-cutting, brazing and soldering, shaping, ARC and GAS welding. Daily equipment inspections and ensuring proper maintenance and repairs are completed. Responsible for ordering parts and materials needed. Preparation and site clean-up, including rubbish removal. Assist in the completion of all necessary documentation as per process/protocol to ensure cost effectiveness and budget allocation. Provide quality workmanship consistent with industry standards and stakeholder expectations. Understand the basics of reading and interpreting blueprints. Participate in daily Toolbox meetings and support monthly work-site inspections. Perform tasks according to safe work practices and safe job procedures. Notify Manager of unsafe practices and unsafe environment. Report all incidents and accidents immediately. Actively participate as a high performing, team member.
