The candidate must be able to pass the utility company welding test(s).Main Responsibilities: * Manually guide welding gun along weld line to form specified depth of fusion and bead, as judged from color of metal, sound of weld, and size of molted puddle. * Weld in flat, horizontal, vertical, or overhead positions. * Examine weld for bead size and other specifications. * Apply filler rod manually to supply weld metal. * Clean or degrease weld joints or work piece(s). * Repair broken or cracked parts and fill holes. * Prepare broken parts for welding by grooving or scarfing surfaces. * Chip off excess weld, slag, and splatter. * Preheat work piece with hand torch or heating furnace. * Position and clamp work pieces together or assemble them in jig or fixture. * Tack together assemblies. Required Qualifications: * High school diploma or equivalent. * High level of personal integrity and accountability. * Valid driver's license with good driving record. * Own and operate your own welding rig (rig pay and per diem will be provided) Preferred Qualifications: * Class A CDL * Civil, roadway/highway or natural gas project experience Connect with us on Social Media!
