Job ID:40243 Location:450 Brookline Ave, Boston, MA 02215 Category:Research Laboratory Employment Type:Full time Work Location:Hybrid: 2-3 days onsite/week Overview The Division of Population Sciences is seeking a Research Scientist with a background in cancer epidemiology, statistics, or genetics, and interest in cancer early detection.This position will report directly to Dr. Sapna Syngal and work as part of both Genetics and Prevention (GEP) and the Centers for Early Detection and Interception (CEDI) program within the Division, which develops programs and interventions to prevent and/or intercept cancer at its earliest stages.The Research Scientist will be responsible for enhancing productivity of the division and GEP/CEDI through providing scientific support. They will provide input on design and methods for cancer screening trials, assist in the evaluation of collected data, write manuscripts, and collaborate on grant applications focusing on cancer screening and interception. This position requires strategic agility, knowledge of clinical trials, strong project management and communication skills, an interest in writing manuscripts and grants, and interaction with multiple faculty and staff members across the Harvard-wide community.Located in Boston and the surrounding communities, Dana-Farber Cancer Institute is a leader in life changing breakthroughs in cancer research and patient care. Responsibilities PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Help define, prioritize, and develop projects/initiatives across CEDI/GEP research portfolio Lead development of content of grants, progress reports, manuscripts and presentations Contribute to projects with as an individual contributor and/or advisor Work closely within the group and with outside collaborators Have regular communication with the PI and team/group colleagues (one-on-one and group meetings) General scientific and research assistance to the PI and team as needed Qualifications PhD or MD in Life Sciences preferred, especially cancer epidemiology, public health or statistics; experience in clinical arenas an asset. Advanced degree (masters or equivalent) required. Postdoc experience or experience working as a scientist or project manager in a clinical, academic research, medical science, or similar setting strongly preferred. Experience leading grant writing and leading manuscript writingKNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED: Knowledge of cancer as a disease process, ideally with a background in Cancer Genetics, Population Sciences, and/or Epidemiology. Training and experience related to cancer screening or clinical trials Strong interpersonal and communication skills - must be able to build connections within and between teams, appropriately represent the vision/voice of involved faculty, and build constructive and effective relationships with a broad and diverse group of colleagues. Excellent organizational, time- and project-management skills and an ability to work independently. Strong written, verbal, and creative communication skills, including ability to translate insight into content, create PowerPoint or written presentations, and develop grant applications. Passion for learning and innovation, ability to set new and stretching goals for him/herself and the team with a "can-do" attitude and high attention to detail.
