POSITION SUMMARY: Provide overall management direction for existing projects and develop new business opportunities relative to a particular client, group of clients, geographical area or type of project. DUTIES: The project manager is responsible to manage and review estimates and assigned construction projects. Mentor and train construction interns, project engineers, and field engineers and monitor their training and certification. Maintain recruiting, hiring, promotion, and corrective action. Project, organize, and implement project budgets and work under contract. Work to resolve procedures, complaints and construction issues. Monitor and control project to ensure it is completed on schedule and within budget. Formulate reports concerning work progress, costs, and scheduling. Represent company in project meetings, initiate and maintain liaison with client and A/E contacts, to facilitate construction activities. Review, understand, and adhere to all union contracts. Ensure compliance with all safety and environmental requirements. QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Science in Civil Engineering or Construction Management or equivalent work experience. Five years of progressive estimating and project management experience. Experience in management and road construction materials. Ability to organize all aspects of the project, including analyze financial information and foresee and resolve project conflicts. PHYSICAL DEMANDS/SAFETY: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this position. Sitting: 50% of time Standing: 50% of time Driving: Position requires driving to jobsites, and Geneva Rock offices. Company vehicle provided. Weight Lifted: Must frequently be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Physical Movement: May frequently be required to walk over uneven ground, balance, stoop/crouch, kneel, grab and hold objects such as surveying equipment and other equipment as needed. Speaking / Listening: Needs to be able to communicate well with customers, dispatch, supervision, receive and follow instructions, and understand safety requirements. Working Conditions: 25% of time will be spent working outside in the elements.
