Idaho Conservation Corps - AmeriCorps 680 Hour Individual Placement U.S. Forest Service Payette National Forest Krassel Ranger District Position Title: Recreation Trails Technician AmeriCorps Member - 680 Hour Position Summary: Payette National Forest, Krassel Ranger District is recruiting five 680 Hour Trail Crew AmeriCorps Members beginning June through September 2023 (exact starting date is negotiable). This position will be as a crew member on a Forest Service Trail and Wilderness Crew. Duties and Responsibilities: The duties (100%) of this position include working as a crew member on a self-contained backpacking crew. Performs light and heavy maintenance on the District system trails including logout and tread repair. The District is made up of rugged mountains, densely forested, deep canyons with many wild rivers and high mountain lakes. Required Qualifications: Previous backpacking and camping experience required. Perform strenuous physical work outdoors. Hike long distances carrying a heavy pack and tools. Ability to work outdoors and inclement weather. Current driver's license Desired Qualifications: Outdoor skills preferred. Previous backpacking experience a plus Willingness to work 10-hour days Radio communication skills Positive attitude Duty Location: Duties are performed out of the Krassel Work Center on the South Fork of the Salmon River, Idaho. Housing is provided and the work center is 1 hour drive east of McCall, Idaho. Terms of Employment : One AmeriCorps member will complete a term of service (length dependent on commitment of hours), starting June through September 2023. The member must complete a minimum of 680 service hours by the end of their term. The member will receive a 30-minute lunch each day and this lunch break does not count towards AmeriCorps member service hours. Training will not exceed 20% of total member service hours. Program Benefits : A $7,650 living allowance dispersed on a monthly basis and a $2,474.27 education award upon completion of the 680 hours of service. The living allowance and education award are taxable. Members are responsible for providing their own food. Service eligibility is contingent upon the results of a criminal and driving background check.
