Position Summary: The Lean Improvement Expert contributes directly to the Airbus Competitiveness strategy by defining and deploying improvement initiatives within the Business Unit. Improvement Expert must have a deep knowledge of lean principles and a proven shop-floor experience in Manufacturing. You will identify optimization or improvement potential impacting the Recurring Costs (RC) with piloted, standardized & sustainable solutions based on Lean and Airbus Operating System (AOS) principles. The Improvement Expert must be able to lead Kaizen Workshops and lead improvement changes with Business Unit Leaders and Multi-Functional Teams (MFT). Accountabilities Accountable for the identification of pain points and improvement initiatives maturity of the Business unit level Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Production, AOS community Prepare and organize Kaizen events - per MFT / Station Run improvement initiatives Contribution to the Tactical Implementation Plan (TIP) Report Efficiency per Station & MFT Secure Recurring Cost (RC) driver model Primary Responsibilities: 1. Support RC improvement Strategy and Governance: Prepare & co-facilitate RC Governance Facilitate workshops (Kaizen, VSM etc) 2. Deployment RC strategy & initiatives: Develop TIP for RC improvements in the area Coordinate with MFT members improvement workshops to analyze the result of Time studies and identify efficiency improvement actions. Work closely with PPE & ME team to identify white space, redspace improvement opportunities] Work closely with the Manufacturing Engineering team to identify process improvement opportunities. Report weekly basis to the HO Competitiveness and provide concrete improvement opportunities. Take ownership of the Productivity Improvement Idea (PII) brick of the assigned area. Lead improvement projects in the area assigned (Coming out of QPS, Performance routines) Promoting the use of internal good practices and external bench-marking by acting with the extended manufacturing communities. Link with existing AOS and performance teams to keep alignment 3. Support of Efficiency Assessment and Improvement: Lead efficiency assessments maturity at Station level integrating operations performance Identify & gather improvements 4. Additional Responsibilities: Lead industrial task forces/Project on need basis: diagnosis, solution definition and implementation, results achievement Develop, moderate and chair workshops within the FAL to resolve business and cultural issues respectively. Using validated samples to identify, communicate and promote the use of Lean tools and techniques for effective problem-solving at all levels. Other duties as per the needs of the areas. Qualified Experience / Skills / Training: Education: Requires a Bachelor's Degree in aerospace, manufacturing engineering, industrial engineering, or similar discipline. May substitute for an equivalent combination of education and experience. A Master's Degree is preferred. Experience: At Least 5+ years of experience in a manufacturing or logistics environment is required. A minimum of 3 years of prior experience in a leadership role in a manufacturing or logistics environment or 3 plus years of prior change agent experience Requires experience in quality tools, problem solving and process optimization (Lean /Six Sigma Green Belt or equivalent) Requires experience in leading or actively participating in lean manufacturing workshops such as Kaizen, VSM, SMED, 5S, etc... Licensure/Certifications: Lean/Six Sigma Green Belt Level desired Knowledge, Skills, Demonstrated Capabilities: Deep understanding of all components contributing to Recurring Costs, global system view and Operational Excellence principles Cost / Finance understanding Deep knowledge of Lean deployment model principles and deliverables Communication Skills (Spoken, Written, Influencing, Proficiency in Other Languages): Performance management Capacity to efficiently communicate to large groups (concise / simple messages) Coaching basics Capability to detect resistance to change and propose counter-actions to improve adhesion Tutoring skills in line with Airbus Leadership Model Technical Systems Proficiency: Microsoft office (Excel, Powerpoint, Word) and Google Suite Knowledge of SAP Travel Required: 10% Domestic and International Decision Making, Complexity: Able to assess and prioritize Responsible for RC implementation at MFT / Station Level Nature of Contacts: Involved communication on a frequent basis with internal customers. Physical Requirements: Vision: Adequate to enter and read material on computer screens. Able to identify individuals to initiate greetings, the giving of directions and other business interactions Hearing: Able to hear sufficiently to engage in conversation in office settings Able to hear safety alerts and warning signals. Speaking: Able to engage in conversations in person and via electronic means and deliver information to groups of varying size with or without amplification. Equipment Operation Able to operate a wide range of personal and office electronic equipment. Carrying: Able to occasionally carry up to 30lbs/14kg while engaging in training, addressing production issues or as part of continuous improvement projects. Lifting: Able to occasionally lift up to 30lbs/14kg. Pushing/Pulling: Able to push/pull items in office areas. Sitting: Able to sit for extended periods of time at the computer and in meetings. Squatting/Kneeling: Able to occasionally squat or kneel to retrieve or replace items shelved on bottom shelves. Standing: Able to stand for extended periods of time. Travel: Able to travel overseas and domestically sometimes for extended periods of time. Working outside hangers in changing locations. Walking: Able to walk through office and production areas, around flight line and airstrips and sometimes on uneven indoor and/or outdoor surfaces.
