A DAY IN THE LIFE OF A CONTRACTS - GRANTS OFFICER As a Contracts - Grants Officer, you are a vital asset to our organization. Working under the direction of the chief financial officer, you meet with our internal customers, such as department heads and project managers, and guide them through the contract and procurement process. Proactive to the core, you help our internal customers achieve their procurement departmental and project goals. To do so, you perform market research and assist the staff in selecting the vendor who offers the best quality and value for our observatory's needs. You negotiate terms, draft documents and memoranda of understanding, resolve any disputes, manage the risks and obligations, and ensure appropriate record keeping. These duties, along with a variety of other federal pre- and post-award responsibilities keep you in the thick of our contract and procurement process. Using your strong management skills, you lead and support the agreements and purchasing team ensuring they meet their goals and objective. With compliance as another of your top priorities, you do your utmost to protect our eligibility for external funding and navigate contractual and insurance risks. With integrity, you ensure that all our agreements and procurement obligations comply with relevant laws and regulations. You also manage our internal compliance logistics and inventory systems. QUALIFICATIONS FOR A CONTRACTS - GRANTS OFFICER Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related field 3-5 years of recent, directly related experience in contract administration Working knowledge of all aspects of contract negotiation, formation, administration, closeout, and, if necessary, termination in a regulatory environment, with the ability to interpret laws and regulations, and apply them to sound business practices. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS JD degree from an American Bar Association accredited institution 2 years of supervisory experience, including management oversight of procurement or purchasing staff Federal grant administration: pre- and post-award financial assistance grants Certification as a certified purchasing manager (CPM), certified professional contracts manager (CPCM), or membership in the National Contract Management Association (NCMA) would also be a plus.
